Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Deskside Support Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical support and desktop engineering, with a proven track record of developing and implementing automated desktop image rollout processes for new computers. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced deskside support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
- Develop, test, and deploy automated desktop image rollout systems for new and existing computers, ensuring a seamless and efficient setup process.
- Maintain and update desktop imaging and deployment documentation, including standard operating procedures, best practices, and system configurations.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Manage desktop security updates and antivirus software to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Assist in the management of asset inventory, including tracking, auditing, and reporting on hardware and software assets.
- Offer training and guidance to junior deskside support staff and end-users, promoting IT best practices and efficient use of IT resources.
- Participate in IT projects, providing expertise in desktop engineering and support.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in desktop support and management, recommending improvements to processes and technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Higher Diploma / Associate Degree / Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in deskside support and desktop engineering.
- Extensive experience with desktop imaging and deployment tools (e.g., Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, SCCM, Ghost, or similar technologies).
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common desktop applications.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript).
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Certifications in Microsoft, CompTIA, or other relevant technologies are a plus.
